European Parliament Considers Banning Russian Media
The European Parliament is weighing a ban on Russian media outlets from its networks, sparking concerns about setting a precedent for media restrictions.
Leaders of political groups expressed concerns during a meeting on October 15, where a request was made to block access to "Russian propaganda websites" under EU sanctions, including RT, Sputnik, and others.
Rihards Kols, a Latvian MEP, wants the Parliament to block access to these websites across all devices and networks.
The request comes after the EU sanctioned Russian media in 2022 following Moscow's invasion of Ukraine, yet many websites hosting Russian content remain accessible.
