The European market monitor for cars and vans provides data on new registrations and estimates of manufacturers' compliance with CO2 emission targets in August 2025.
Public charging infrastructure is being deployed faster than the rate of EV adoption in Europe, with over 1.09 million public charging points installed by the end of Q3 2025.
- Alternating current (AC) charging points increased by 21% compared to the same point in 2024.
- Direct current (DC) charging points showed a 41% growth compared to the end of Q3 2024.
Approximately 80% of Europe's public charging points supply AC, while the remaining 20% supply DC.
Detailed growth rates for AC and DC chargers were recorded, with Denmark showing the largest growth in AC chargers (+44%) and Austria in DC charging points (+70%).
Public charging infrastructure deployment outpaces EV adoption in Europe.
Average numbers of charging points were also reported, with roughly 8 charging points per region.
