Energy company E.ON Group has signed a five-year deal with Nokia to modernize its mission-critical communications infrastructure.
The initial project in Germany is expected to set the blueprint for units elsewhere in Europe. Nokia estimates that the upgraded network will reduce energy consumption by up to 50% compared to the current IP and optical infrastructure.
Nokia will provide the full suite of next-generation networking solutions, including IP routing and switching, optical transport, fixed broadband access, and network automation.
The new equipment is expected to improve security, operational resilience, scalability, operational flexibility, and responsiveness.
