Grant County Police Investigate Theft of Cryptocurrency Machines
The Grant County Sheriff’s Office is seeking information after Bitcoin machines valued at $700,000 were stolen earlier this month.
According to the department, a report was filed by "Your Choice Ever Best" (YCEB) Bitcoin mining operation in Grant County on October.
Bitcoin mining machines are used to verify cryptocurrency transactions and secure the blockchain network, as explained by the police.
- YCEB has an operating site in Marion, Indiana, after initially establishing the company in China.
- The company reported a hijacked shipment of cargo from a semi containing 1,000 Bitcoin machines with an estimated value of $700,000.
Following an investigation, officers discovered the stolen shipment was in the Chicago area and, through an undercover operation, were able to recover the stolen cargo.
