After releasing five albums on the Verve label from 1966-68, Zappa moved to Warner Brothers, creating his own labels, Bizarre and Straight. In 1969, The Mothers of Invention released the double-album Uncle Meat, and Zappa issued his solo effort Hot Rats.
Zappa maintained a vast library of recorded music and studio tracks, which he combined in various ways, resulting in three albums released in 1970:
