With rising car prices, many people in the Las Vegas Valley are opting for used cars as an affordable alternative. However, consumer attorneys warn that a "good deal" can end up costing thousands if not careful.
A local resident, Marie Sepian, shared her recent car-buying experience. She thought she had found a great deal on a used 2024 Honda Civic from a small car lot in East Las Vegas. The car had 13,200 miles on it and appeared to be in excellent condition. Sepian asked the dealer if the car had been in an accident, and he assured her that it had not.
"This car had 13,200 miles on it and looked in excellent shape," Sepian said. "I asked them if it had been in an accident, and he swore there were no accidents."
However, Sepian later discovered that the car had significant structural damage, which the dealer had not disclosed.
