Team Rachel Homan, fresh off winning a record 19th Grand Slam title, lost 11-5 to Japan's Team Satsuki Fujisawa in their opening game at the 2025 United States Steel Pan Continental Curling Championships.
The team, consisting of Rachel Homan, Tracy Fleury, Emma Miskew, Sarah Wilkes, and alternate Rachelle Brown, had a long cross-country trip to get to Virginia, Minn., with two flights and a three-hour drive.
Despite their fatigue, the two-time defending Canadian and world champions gave it their all, but ultimately fell short against Japan.
"The schedule finally caught up with us,"
Team Homan will look to bounce back from this loss and continue their competition in the Pan Continentals.
