MTV to Shut Down UK Music Channels
MTV, once synonymous with pop culture and the music video revolution, will end its run as a dedicated music broadcaster in the UK at the end of the year.
The network is closing five of its linear music channels:
- MTV Music
- MTV 80s
- MTV 90s
- Club MTV
- MTV Live
The flagship channel, MTV HD, will remain on air, but its schedule will focus on reality programming such as Naked Dating UK and Geordie Shore.
The decision marks the end of an era for the brand that helped define how generations discovered and consumed pop music.
