Marine Corps Live-Fire Event to Close Coastal Freeway
A large stretch of Interstate 5 near Camp Pendleton will be closed due to a Marine Corps live-fire event as part of its 250th birthday celebration.
Initially, the Marines stated that no closures would be necessary, but the state has announced a four-hour closure citing "extreme life safety risk and distraction to drivers, including sudden unexpected and loud explosions."
