Campaigners have conceded defeat as the final legal attempt to save the Wales Air Ambulance base in Welshpool has been unsuccessful.
The Court of Appeal has refused an appeal hearing into the closure, leaving no other options available. As a result, North Powys will lose its cherished air ambulance base, with the charity opting to open a new base in north east Wales instead.
Although the famous red helicopters will no longer be flying out of the local airport, it is hoped that a land vehicle will be introduced to provide round-the-clock immediate responses for the local area.
The final nail in the coffin has been hammered down.
