A family is searching for answers after their sister was turned away from a Manitoba hospital and died overnight.
According to Naturelle Cook, her sister Shandi Cook visited the Swan Valley Health Center on October 11, complaining of breathing difficulties and inability to get enough oxygen.
“When I found out, I just started yelling and saying, ‘No, it’s not true, she can’t be gone,’”
Naturelle explained that while in the waiting room, her sister started coughing up blood into her hands. Despite this, hospital staff told her there was nothing wrong and sent her home.
Naturelle believes staff discriminated against her sister, who continued to struggle after being sent home.
