Evil Hamsters and the Worst Day of Your Life

The new film "If I Had Legs I'd Kick You" brings a comedic nightmare to the big screen, directed by Mary Bronstein and starring Rose Byrne.

Before the film screened at the Toronto International Film Festival, Rose Byrne addressed the audience, explaining that to get in the proper mindset for the film, you have to imagine

the worst day of your life — or, at the very least, the worst thing that happened to you today
. She advised the audience to hold that feeling and let it carry through the
acerbic, tense and hilarious experience
that will follow.

Byrne stars as Linda, a mental health counsellor whose life is falling apart. The film opens on an uncomfortable close-up of her face as a doctor chides her for not doing everything she can to help her daughter heal from a mystery illness.

The film's tone is set from the start, with each turn or scene presenting a new obstacle for Linda to deal with, creating a

claustrophobic and uncomfortable
experience.

Author's summary: A comedy film about a woman's worst day.
