Lib Dem Gains from Labour, Greens, and Conservatives
A set of ten principal authority council by-elections this week brought good news for the Liberal Democrats, with some notable gains.
In Preston, a Labour authority that has received positive coverage from outlets like The Guardian, the Liberal Democrats made a significant gain. The Ashton (Preston) Council By-Election Result was:
- Liberal Democrats: 37.3% (+15.8)
- RFM: 25.9% (New)
- Labor: 24.3% (-34.6)
- Independent: 5.7% (New)
- Conservatives: 3.5% (-16.3)
- Independent: 3.4% (New)
This resulted in a Liberal Democrat GAIN from Labour. Congratulations to Ronan Hodgson and the team. This gain is particularly notable given the result in this ward just three years ago, where Labor received 1,249 votes, Conservatives received 490, and Liberal Democrats received 183.
