A Brantford woman, Sara Butts, won a top prize of $250,000 in Instant Diamond Dollars on a ticket she bought while out on a walk.
Butts, 42, purchased the ticket at Sonia’s Variety on Paris Road and then sat in a local park to play it. She was shocked to discover she had won the large sum.
I sat at the park to play them and I was in total shock when I discovered I won. I honestly thought I won $250 first and I was happy with that. When I took a closer look at the ticket, I thought ‘OMG! This can’t be real!’ I was just stunned.
Butts immediately called her son to share the news, but he was initially half asleep and didn't process the information. She called him back later, and he was thrilled to hear about the win.
Butts plans to invest her winnings and feels grateful for the windfall.
I feel incredibly blessed and grateful. Winning is an amazing feeling.
