2025 Great Alaska ShakeOut Reminds State to Drop, Cover and Hold On
The Great Alaska ShakeOut was held on Thursday at 10:16 a.m., coinciding with the date 10/16 at 10:16. This annual event encourages citizens across the state to practice protecting themselves from earthquakes.
Alaska experiences 50-100 earthquakes daily, making it crucial to practice earthquake safety. Denali Montessori Elementary School participated in the Great Alaska ShakeOut, where children quickly found safe places, covering their heads and necks, and sheltering under their desks.
