Aryna Sabalenka secured the year-end No 1 spot in the WTA Rankings despite missing out on a four-peat at the Wuhan Open.
Sabalenka was looking to make it four wins in a row, having won the tournament in 2018, 2019, and 2024, but her streak was ended by Jessica Pegula in the semi-final.
Sabalenka did enough to win the year-end No 1 WTA Ranking battle with Iga Swiatek.
Coco Gauff also did her chances of securing the American No 1 ranking no harm by holding off Amanda Anisimova.
Meanwhile, Mboko and Raducanu missed out on the tournament.
Author's summary: Sabalenka wins year-end No 1 spot.
