Sudbury police receive an average of four calls a day alleging domestic violence.
In response to the growing problem, the Greater Sudbury Police Service has created a special unit to deal with intimate partner violence as a one-year pilot project.
“We’re hoping we are going to save some resources, and it also gives us dedicated officers to deal with community services,”
said Chief Sara Cunningham. The new unit will consist of six members, including two specially trained officers in intimate partner violence investigations and victim support.
