Departing A-grade coach 'became a bit burnt out', so will she stay to play?

Courtney McLean Steps Down as A-Grade Coach

A name that carries generations of association with Lake Wendouree's netball program will be less involved in 2026 as the club's A-grade coaching position becomes vacant.

Courtney McLean has confirmed 2025 was her last season heading up the Lakers' top-line outfit, which won through to Ballarat Football Netball League semi-finals this year before falling to eventual premiers Darley.

"I dedicated more time to it this year than I did my actual job."

Wrapping up a four-year stint in charge of the Lakers, McLean's heart remains firmly intertwined with the club, though her future as a player there, where she has amassed more than 350 games, remains uncertain.

"In my mind, I thought I'd coach again next year, and hopefully do a handover that was a bit cleaner,"
McLean said.
