Council Discusses Railroad Quiet Zone Project
The Marshalltown city council discussed the ongoing railroad quiet zone project, also referred to as the "safety zone" project by Mayor Joel Greer.
Public Works Director Heather Thomas provided an update on the project, the first since March 2024.
The council voted unanimously to move forward with the notice of intent to permanently close the 2nd Street crossing and proceed with the quiet zone project.
The currently closed railroad crossing at South 2nd Street is part of the project.
