A woman is working to change the fate of abandoned dogs in Ethiopia's capital, Addis Ababa, where they receive little care.
Feven Melese, a 29-year-old music degree graduate, has established a shelter on the outskirts of the city, providing food and a place to stay for 40 dogs, and feeding around 700 others on the streets every week.
Melese has found new homes for over 300 dogs in the past two years.
Alongside fellow young animal rights activists, Melese aims to alter the common perception in Ethiopia that dogs are merely protectors, not pets to be cared for.
As the city's skyscrapers rise, the estimated 200,000 unclaimed dogs roaming the streets have fewer places to hide.
