Stellantis Moves Jeep Compass Production

Automaker Stellantis is moving production of its Jeep Compass vehicle from Brampton, Ontario to Illinois, USA, due to President Donald Trump’s tariffs.

Stellantis had previously paused work on the Jeep Compass at its Ontario plant amid Trump’s tariff threats. The company will now shift production to its Belvidere Assembly Plant in Illinois, after investing $600 million.

“With an initial production launch expected in 2027, these actions are anticipated to create around 3,300 new jobs (in America),”

said Stellantis in a news release. This move is part of a larger $13 billion investment in America, creating over 5,000 jobs.
