Judge Blocks Hemp Ban as Gov. DeWine Points to Increased Underage Exposure

A Franklin County judge has delayed a 90-day executive order banning intoxicating hemp products, such as THC-infused gummies and beverages, issued by Gov. Mike DeWine.

The ban was put on hold for 14 days as a lawsuit by several retailers and businesses is being considered. Gov. DeWine argued that hemp-derived THC products are unregulated and accessible to children and teenagers.

“One problem with the intoxicating hemp products, they weren’t regulated at all, so they looked like food or candy that doesn’t have child-resistant packaging,”

According to some medical professionals, this lack of regulation is a concern. The judge's decision to delay the ban allows for further consideration of the issue.

Author's summary: Judge delays Gov. DeWine's hemp ban for two weeks.
