Lewiston nonprofit tackles animal cruelty with re-homing initiatives

Lewiston Nonprofit Tackles Animal Cruelty

The Idaho Animal Rescue Network in Lewiston is a nonprofit organization dedicated to raising awareness about animal cruelty in the state.

The group focuses on re-homing pets that may not be receiving adequate care.

"There's a critical gap in rescue services when it comes to cruelty cases, rescue cases, and things like that,"
said Jenna Redhart, founder and executive director.

Idaho ranks 48th out of 50 states in terms of animal welfare. The organization uses social media to post photos of pets in need of fostering or new homes.

"We are funded by grants and donations from our community. A huge portion of our expenses are veterinary costs."
