The Salvation Army in Rochester is hosting a winter gear drive, "More than a Coat", to collect donations and keep local families warm.
Donations can be dropped off at the Salvation Army Corps Community Center, located at 20 1st Ave.
“Of course, a winter coat is a very basic need, but those are the two things we run out of every year,” said Rebecca Snapp, community engagement director. “They’re also something that people come to ask us for later on in the season.”
The most needed items are winter boots and gloves. Donations will likely be accepted until 3 p.m. Distribution for those in need is scheduled for Wednesday and Thursday.
