The Office of the Second Vice-President has confirmed that it has not yet received direct budgetary funding. In the meantime, it continues to rely on financial and operational support from the Office of the Vice-President.
According to officials, all administrative and logistical operations for the Second Vice-President’s activities are currently managed through the Vice-President’s Office, as the necessary funding structures have not yet been formalized.
The Treasury has reportedly not yet allocated specific funds for the newly established office. The process is pending approval from relevant government bodies to allow independent access to operational and administrative budgets.
“We have not been given direct funding yet, but operations are ongoing through the Vice-President’s Office,” a spokesperson for the Second Vice-President’s Office stated.
The position of Second Vice-President was reinstated this year to strengthen political representation and balance within the executive branch. However, the absence of direct funding has limited its ability to function independently and fulfill its administrative mandate.
Government sources say that the Ministry of Finance is reviewing the necessary procedures to allocate funds, emphasizing that the process is part of a broader restructuring of budgetary frameworks for new institutions.
