Authorities in Bhubaneswar are strengthening security measures ahead of President Droupadi Murmu’s visit to the Odisha capital, police officials announced on Tuesday.
A total of 58 police platoons — around 1,740 personnel — will be deployed across key areas of the city to ensure smooth coordination and safety throughout the visit. Senior officers from various departments will oversee the arrangements, focusing on traffic control, crowd management, and maintaining law and order.
Security teams will implement special traffic regulations during the presidential motorcade. Routes leading to the airport, Raj Bhavan, and other destinations connected with the visit will see restricted movement. Emergency response teams and quick reaction units will remain on standby.
Police officials have been directed to work in collaboration with the Special Protection Group (SPG) and local intelligence units to manage the security grid. Mock drills and route rehearsals are being conducted to ensure a seamless and secure visit.
“All necessary precautions are being taken to ensure the President’s safety,” a senior police officer stated.
