Canon has unveiled the EOS R6 Mark III, a flagship update to its acclaimed full-frame mirrorless line. Positioned between the professional EOS R5 and the enthusiast-oriented R6, the new model refines performance and design for photographers and videographers alike.
The EOS R6 Mark III features a new 24.2-megapixel full-frame CMOS sensor paired with Canon’s latest DIGIC X processor. This combination delivers faster readout, reduced rolling shutter, and superior image clarity with improved dynamic range.
Building on Canon’s renowned Dual Pixel CMOS AF II technology, the autofocus system now recognizes a broader range of subjects, including vehicles, animals, and people. It offers 100% frame coverage with exceptional speed and precision, even in low light.
Designed for hybrid creators, the camera records oversampled 4K footage using the full sensor width at up to 60p, and supports 6K RAW output via HDMI. Canon has also improved heat management, allowing longer recording durations during professional shoots.
The updated shutter system supports up to 12 frames per second with the mechanical shutter and a stunning 40 frames per second using the electronic shutter. This makes the EOS R6 Mark III an ideal tool for action, sports, and wildlife photography.
Canon retained the compact body while improving ergonomics and control layout. The high-resolution electronic viewfinder and vari-angle touchscreen simplify composition from any angle. Dual card slots (CFexpress and SD UHS-II) provide flexible storage options.
With a potent sensor, advanced autofocus, professional-grade video capabilities, and intuitive handling, the Canon EOS R6 Mark III redefines the hybrid camera experience for demanding creators.
“The EOS R6 Mark III is built for versatility — ready for both stills and motion,” Canon stated at launch.
Author’s summary: Canon’s EOS R6 Mark III is a high-performance hybrid camera that combines advanced image processing, intelligent autofocus, and cinematic video flexibility in a compact design.
