Gerry Dee, known for hosting Family Feud Canada since 2019 and creating the CBC comedy Mr. D, is premiering his first Netflix standup special titled Gerry Dee: Funny You Should Say That on November 18, 2025.
The special was filmed live at Espace St-Denis in Montreal during the Just for Laughs festival in July. It showcases Dee’s sharp, dry observational humor as he tackles topics like open marriages, the truth about Santa Claus, and his nine years teaching at a private school.
“Every step of the way in my life, at one point that was the goal — to be a teacher,” Dee remarked in an interview with Montreal radio station The Beat 92.5. “And I loved it. And then I entered this world of standup, and I left it. You go out and pursue your goals and dreams and everything. And then when you hit them, it’s like, wow.”
Dee’s comedy special connects with a global audience by mining relatable life experiences, including the chaos of modern family life and parenting. His style relies on honesty rather than spectacle, reflecting his journey through more than 25 years in stand-up and television.
The Netflix release coincides with his ongoing role on Family Feud Canada and his acting in the Fox sitcom Animal Control. Another of his specials, Gerry Dee: Let’s Be Honest, is currently available on Roku Channel and Prime Video.
“To finally have my first Netflix special is truly a highlight of my career,” Dee said. “The energy of performing in Montreal for Just for Laughs was incredible, and I can’t wait for people around the world to see the special.”
Netflix executives highlight Dee’s exceptional relatability and ability to connect with audiences across Canada and now globally through this special.
Gerry Dee’s Netflix special is a compelling blend of humor and candid storytelling, marking a significant milestone in his comedy career with his signature relatable style.
