I've always hoped for more heroes in the Strategist and Vanguard roles in Marvel Rivals. While I enjoy Duelists, the game initially featured more DPS heroes than tanks and healers combined. NetEase has been working to balance the distribution of roles more evenly.
When rumors surfaced about Rogue and Gambit joining the game, I expected Gambit to be a Duelist and Rogue to fill a Vanguard or Strategist role. However, Gambit was officially revealed as a Strategist, which pleasantly surprised me.
Gambit's primary attack can both heal allies and damage enemies, typical for hitscan Strategists. His ultimate ability enhances teammates by granting a supercharged jump, health regeneration, and explosive attacks.
He also has dashes and a Bo staff attack that damages enemies and heals allies when struck on the ground, reminiscent of Overwatch 2's hero Wuyang.
Gambit possesses two modes, similar to characters like Emma Frost or Hulk/Bruce Banner. When equipped with heart cards, he becomes more healing-oriented.
“His primary fire can heal allies and damage enemies, like most hitscan Strategists.”
“His ultimate boosts allies, providing them with a supercharged jump, health regen, and explosive attacks.”
Gambit's introduction adds a fresh strategic element, balancing healing and damage in Marvel Rivals’ roster.
