Wind warning in effect for Metro Vancouver with gusts blowing up to 90 km/h | News

Wind Warning Issued for Metro Vancouver

High winds are approaching Metro Vancouver starting today, prompting residents to secure outdoor items like patio furniture. Environment and Climate Change Canada (ECCC) has issued a wind warning for areas of Metro Vancouver, anticipating gusts reaching up to 90 km/h.

Details of the Wind Warning

This warning is part of continuing weather alerts following recent heavy rainfall caused by back-to-back low-pressure systems affecting British Columbia’s South Coast earlier this week.

“Strong winds that may cause damage are expected,” said ECCC. “A strong low-pressure system will impact coastal B.C. this afternoon, generating very strong southeasterly winds of 70 km/h gusting to 90.”

“Winds will ease below warning criteria early this evening but will remain gusty out of the southwest until Friday morning.”
