BBC presenter Sara Cox is embarking on one of Children in Need's longest challenges, aiming to raise significant funds for the annual charity drive. She will start her journey in Northumberland, a region recently highlighted in a hit film.
Sara Cox, formerly of Radio 1 and now a Radio 2 host, will cover the equivalent of five marathons in five days. Her route spans 135 miles on foot, crossing four counties: Northumberland, Durham, North Yorkshire, and West Yorkshire.
She will travel from Northumberland to Pudsey, near Leeds, where she will reunite with the famous Children in Need bear, Pudsey.
The challenge begins in the scenic Kielder Forest, a location featured in the zombie thriller 28 Years Later. The film’s director, Oscar winner Danny Boyle, filmed key scenes in this North East setting last year.
Sara's route will take her through moorlands, steep ridges, and rolling hills, carrying a special Pudsey Bear backpack throughout her journey.
