Starting this weekend with the Formula 1 race in Brazil, Australian streaming service Kayo Sports will give fans the option to choose between two different commentary teams for each of the final four races of the season.
Although Foxtel and Kayo have not officially announced the initiative, it is seen as a response to growing frustration among Australian fans over the perceived bias of the UK-based commentators, especially in coverage of Lando Norris and his rivalry with Oscar Piastri.
“Lando is doing a great job, but the lack of attention to Oscar’s rise through the field, his DRS position, and the constant talk about Lando’s new championship lead — as if he’s already won — are just over the top.”
The narrator mentioned that, after polling fans across multiple platforms, the response was remarkably positive toward having an alternative commentary option.
“I had hoped for an Aussie commentary team — a local crew including a race driver and other experts. Not something that only talks about Oscar, but one that removes the UK bias and gives fair coverage to Max, Oscar, and Lando alike.”
While Fox Sports has not assembled an original local team, they have chosen to use the already available F1 TV commentary feed as an alternate option for Australian viewers through Kayo Sports.
