If you subscribed to Amazon Prime in recent years, you might be eligible for a refund. Amazon has reached a $1.5 billion settlement with the Federal Trade Commission following accusations of deceptive enrollment and cancellation practices.
The FTC alleged that Amazon enrolled some users in Prime without consent and made canceling memberships unnecessarily difficult. As part of the settlement, the company will distribute refunds to affected customers in the United States.
Amazon is set to pay out $1.5 billion in refunds to affected consumers.
If you joined Prime outside these dates or through another sign-up method, you are not included in the refund program. In most instances, customers won’t need to file a claim; eligible users will receive refunds automatically.
