Mike Smith, known for his role as Bubbles on Trailer Park Boys, has been charged with sexual assault in Nova Scotia. The Nova Scotia Public Prosecution Service informed Acadia Broadcasting that Smith is scheduled for arraignment in November.
Court documents indicate the charge is linked to an alleged incident on December 30, 2017, near Dartmouth, Nova Scotia. Smith has been ordered not to contact the complainant or go near her home, workplace, or school. He signed an undertaking to this effect in October.
The prosecution will seek a publication ban on information that could reveal the identity of the victim, as required by the Criminal Code of Canada. It is not yet known whether Smith will appear in court personally or through legal representation.
The company confirmed awareness of the allegation and stated that Smith has stepped away from his role as managing director.
