Shoshana Bean, known for her role as Elphaba in the Broadway production of Wicked from 2005 to 2006, revealed why she hasn't watched the first Wicked film yet, despite the upcoming release of the sequel.
At the New York Restoration Project Hulaween Gala on October 24, Bean explained to PEOPLE that she purposely held off on seeing Wicked: Part 1 because she wants to watch it alongside the sequel, Wicked: For Good, which arrives in theaters in November.
“I waited until the second, so I could watch them back-to-back,” Bean, 48, shared, adding that she’s “absolutely” excited to experience both films consecutively.
Bean expressed particular enthusiasm for the song “No Good Deed,” highlighting the possibilities the film medium offers beyond the stage.
“It’s a very cinematic song, and I would love to see it have more life than what a stage is capable of doing,” she said, praising director Jon Chu’s creative vision: “I could not even possibly imagine to the extent that Jon Chu’s genius can dream, can create.”
Shoshana Bean eagerly anticipates watching both Wicked films together, especially to see iconic songs like “No Good Deed” brought to life with cinematic depth.
