Tennessee Tech senior Reghan Grimes needed just five points to join the 1,000-point club but ended up scoring 24 points to lead all scorers in Monday night's game. The Golden Eagles defeated the University of the Cumberlands 92-67 at the Eblen Center.
Tech shot nearly 50% overall, going 30-for-61 from the field, 10-for-22 from three-point range, and 22-for-33 at the free-throw line. However, the team faced challenges due to 33 fouls, with seven players close to foul trouble.
The visiting Patriots took advantage of this, shooting 50 free throws and making 32 (64%).
Joy Kendrick led Cumberlands with 21 points, shooting 12-for-15 at the free-throw line despite going 4-for-15 from the field.
