Police have released CCTV footage of two suspects believed to be connected to the fatal shooting of 21-year-old Athan Boursinos in Melbourne’s northern suburb of Wollert in July.
Boursinos was allegedly approached by unknown men in a laneway behind Champions Parade shortly before 9 a.m. on Thursday, July 31. He was shot multiple times and declared dead at the scene.
Authorities believe that a Sydney-based organised crime syndicate may have sanctioned the murder. The offenders are thought to have travelled from New South Wales to Melbourne several days before the attack.
“The police investigation, described as complex, remains ongoing and continues to examine Mr Boursinos’ alleged ties to organised crime.”
After the shooting, the suspects escaped in a stolen Nissan Patrol, which was later found burned on Amery Street in Reservoir around 9:15 a.m. The car had been taken from a Reservoir address in June. The suspects then switched to a grey Volkswagen Golf, also stolen, from Hampton East in March.
The Melbourne shooting of Athan Boursinos is believed to be tied to a cross-state organised crime group, with police pursuing suspects captured on CCTV.
