Joseph Woll recently spoke to the media, expressing thanks to the Toronto Maple Leafs organization and the city of Toronto for respecting his privacy during his absence. Woll has not appeared in any games this season after leaving the team during training camp to handle a personal family matter.
The 27-year-old goaltender is approaching a return, having rejoined Toronto and preparing to start a conditioning stint in the AHL this weekend.
“Just being back in this environment has been nice. To see my teammates, to be back in Toronto, watching us play, watching the Blue Jays play, it’s good to be back here,” Woll shared with reporters on Friday.
Woll acknowledged the Leafs' management for granting him time off and appreciated the media's respect for his privacy, while choosing not to discuss the details of his personal leave.
“I want to start off, I have a few thank yous I want to make sure I say. Mainly to the Leafs organization, starting with Brad [Treliving] and working all the way down for all the support they’ve given me and my family for the last bit,” Woll said. “I’ve really been blown away at how much support I’ve received.
“With that, a big thank you to my teammates as well. I’ve expressed that to them, just for all the support they’ve given. Last, I want to thank you guys. I asked for privacy, and you guys have granted me that. I really appreciate that, as well."
Joseph Woll is preparing to return to play for the Maple Leafs after a family-related hiatus, expressing deep gratitude for the support from the organization, teammates, and media.
