Three people have died in a fiery plane crash at Shellharbour airport on Saturday, October 11.
"In all my time as a police officer I've never been to an aviation incident like this."
The incident occurred around 10am when a Piper Cherokee Lance aircraft took off and crashed, with its left wing dipping and contacting the tarmac, before being engulfed in flames.
According to chief inspector Aaron Wunderlich, witnesses described the aircraft's left wing coming down and contacting the tarmac before the plane caught fire.
