Joji has released the third single from his upcoming album Piss In the Wind. Earlier this week, he announced the album's release date as February 6 and shared the single “If It Only Gets Better.” Now, he follows up with a deeply emotional piano ballad titled “Past Won’t Leave My Bed.”
Co-written with Jonathan Xavier Cunningham, P.J.A. Williams, and producer Dan Farber, the track expresses Joji’s lingering feelings toward an ex. The song’s opening verse captures his struggle as he sees memories of his ex everywhere, finding only brief relief in sleep.
The chorus pairs fuzzy guitar chords with piano to reinforce Joji’s emotional turmoil. In the second verse, he reveals that attempts to soothe himself are failing.
"If you ever go, all the songs that we like / Will sound like bittersweet lullabies."
The video for “Past Won’t Leave My Bed” shows Joji trying to escape his pain by hitchhiking across the country and engaging in risky behavior with questionable people.
