Fairphone, known for creating smartphones using ethically sourced materials and emphasizing repairable, sustainable, and sometimes upgradeable hardware, has so far only sold its products in Europe.
Although the /e/ Foundation has offered some Fairphone models to US customers, those came with higher prices and a de-Googled Android version called /e/OS.
Fairphone CEO Raymond van Eck told Reuters that their first US product won't be a phone, but a pair of repairable headphones. This may be a preliminary move toward directly selling sustainable, repairable smartphones in the US market.
