The current presidential search committee consists of 28 members, including Board members, students, administrators, alumni, and faculty, with a significant representation of faculty.
Historically, the committee's composition has evolved over time. In the past, search committees were often limited to Board of Visitors members. The selection of John Casteen introduced three faculty and student seats, while Teresa Sullivan's appointment process in 2009 marked a significant expansion to include a broader community mix.
Notably, there was little faculty scrutiny during the searches for either Teresa Sullivan or Jim Ryan. The current committee is the largest and most diverse in University history, rendering concerns about representation unfounded.
