Before bidding farewell to the hit Netflix show, David Harbour took a walk through the streets of New York during an interview with Esquire Spain. A version of this article appeared in the November 2025 issue of the magazine.
On November 26, Netflix’s Stranger Things will begin its long-awaited three-part farewell. The first four episodes of the eighth season will premiere on Thanksgiving Day, followed by three more episodes on Christmas Day. The series finale will air on New Year’s Eve, marking the end of a decade-long journey. This finale will close the story of Hawkins, Indiana’s police chief, Jim Hopper, portrayed by Harbour.
This event has attracted significant media attention throughout the latter half of 2025, especially after a surprise album release last week that dramatically increased the spotlight on Harbour.
In September, before recent developments, Esquire Spain’s Rafael Sánchez Casademont spoke with Harbour to discuss his career, the bittersweet end of Stranger Things, and what lies ahead. The interview has been edited for clarity and length.
“When I was a kid it was this magical place. I grew up about an hour outside the city, in a suburban town in Westchester.”
The end of the series marks a reflective moment for Harbour as he looks back on his career and forward to new opportunities.
