Jessica Simpson is marking an important anniversary, sharing gratitude and insight after eight years of sobriety. The singer and entrepreneur celebrated the milestone on November 2, reflecting on how giving up alcohol transformed her life and guided her toward a sense of purpose.
“Eight years ago today I made the choice to confront, to confess, and to let go of the self-sabotaging parts of my life that I was choosing,” she wrote on Instagram.
She added that this moment of truth allowed her to focus on spiritual growth and clarity.
“Making that decision allowed me to fully live in the pursuit of God’s purpose for my life.”
Now 45, Simpson described how alcohol once dulled her instincts and fed her fears. She said that sobriety restored her courage and connection to herself.
“Alcohol silenced my intuition, blocked my dreams, and chased my circulating fears of complacency. Today I am clear. Both fear and faith are things we feel but may not see, and I’m grateful I chose faith over fear.”
She reflected that her real power came not from resistance but from acceptance.
“It was not in the fight that I found my strength; it was in the surrender.”
Simpson, who shares three children — Maxwell, 13, Ace, 12, and Birdie, 6 — with her estranged husband Eric Johnson, is embracing a season of change following their separation earlier this year. Alongside personal growth, she is preparing to return to acting in the upcoming legal drama All’s Fair with Kim Kardashian, Niecy Nash, and Sarah Paulson.
