Canon has unveiled the EOS R6 Mark III, a full-frame camera that raises the bar in performance and image quality compared to its predecessor.
The new model features a 32.5-megapixel sensor, an increase over the EOS R6 Mark II’s 24 megapixels. Combined with the DIGIC X processor, this sensor ensures faster readout speeds while maintaining a continuous shooting rate of 40 frames per second with the electronic shutter.
The expanded buffer now holds up to 150 RAW images. A "Pre-shooting" mode captures 20 frames before the shutter button is fully pressed, making it easier to catch fast-moving action.
The EOS R6 Mark III introduces an upgraded autofocus system capable of recognizing complex subjects such as trains, airplanes, and horses. It also distinguishes between multiple types of animals, including cats and dogs, with better precision.
Up to ten faces can be stored for prioritized tracking, ideal for portrait or event photography. The autofocus performs reliably down to -6.5 EV. Additionally, the built-in image stabilizer compensates for up to 8.5 stops when paired with the electronic shutter.
The camera supports an ISO range up to 64,000, offering flexibility in low-light situations. It also allows in-sensor cropping to simulate a longer focal length, though at a lower resolution.
“The video capabilities of the EOS R6 Mark III have been expanded.”
Users can now record high-quality 7K video with enhanced dynamic range and improved image control, continuing Canon’s trend of integrating robust video functions into its hybrid cameras.
The Canon EOS R6 Mark III delivers significant upgrades in resolution, shooting speed, and autofocus precision, setting a new standard for hybrid photo and video cameras.
