Edinburgh Trams will honor Remembrance Sunday (9 November) and Armistice Day (11 November) to pay tribute to those who lost their lives in World War I, World War II, and more recent conflicts.
On both days of remembrance, free tram travel will be available for veterans and active members of the Army, Navy, and Air Force. Eligible individuals can access this by showing military identification or wearing their uniform.
In the days leading up to the commemorations, representatives from Poppy Scotland will be at the Haymarket tram stop selling poppies. Poppies will also be displayed in tram windows as a further symbol of respect.
Tram services will pause briefly at 11 a.m., where it is safe to do so, to observe a two-minute silence in remembrance on both days.
“Each year I am proud to show our support at Edinburgh Trams on both Remembrance Sunday and Armistice Day,” said Lea Harrison, Managing Director of Edinburgh Trams. “As a former veteran myself, and with several colleagues who previously served, we are deeply committed to honoring those who made the ultimate sacrifice for our country.”
Edinburgh Trams marks Remembrance Day and Armistice Day with free travel for service members, poppy displays, and a symbolic two-minute silence.
