On this Remembrance Day, the University of Manchester invites students, staff, and the wider community to reflect on and honour those who have served and sacrificed in conflicts past and present.
We remember their courage and contribution to our freedom, and show support to current and former members of the Armed Forces and their families.
Across Manchester, many local places of worship will hold a two-minute silence. On campus, The Holy Name Church will observe the silence on 9 November at 11:00 a.m. Attendees are encouraged to contact their local place of worship for details about individual ceremonies.
The North West Officer Training Corps, university representatives, members of the Multifaith Chaplaincy, and the public will gather in the John Owen’s Quad at 10:45 a.m. The two-minute silence will begin promptly at 11:00 a.m., and participants are asked to arrive before the start time.
The University community marks Remembrance Day with a shared moment of silence and reflection to honour those who served and to stand with their families and fellow servicemembers.
