Elder Gérald Caussé was appointed to the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints on Thursday. His ordination was performed by President Dallin H. Oaks along with other members of the First Presidency and the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles.
Caussé, 62, was born in Bordeaux, France. He previously served as the Presiding Bishop for the Church and spoke to youth during a devotional in Versailles, France, on July 21, 2024.
“I’ve always had a testimony of Jesus Christ,” Caussé said. “He’s always been in the center of my life. And I know He’s our Savior and Redeemer. What a wonderful thing it is to be a witness of Christ. That’s the best responsibility or stewardship we might have in our lives.”
The Church describes Apostles as “special witnesses of the name of Christ throughout the world.” They carry significant duties, including overseeing the operation and development of the global Church.
