SALT LAKE CITY — Elder Gérald Caussé, originally from France and former Presiding Bishop of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, was called and ordained as the newest member of the Church’s Quorum of the Twelve Apostles on Thursday.
Elder Caussé, 62, was ordained by President Dallin H. Oaks along with other members of the First Presidency and the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles. The Quorum is the Church's second-highest presiding body, whose members serve as special witnesses of Christ and supervise the administration of the global Church.
“I’ve always had a testimony of Jesus Christ,” Elder Caussé said. “And I know He’s our Savior and Redeemer. What a wonderful thing it is to be a witness of Christ.”
Before his current calling, Elder Caussé served in the Presiding Bishopric since 2012 and was a General Authority Seventy from 2008 to 2012. He has been a leading voice in emphasizing care for others and the significance of the Church’s youth throughout his ministry.
