Livinia Nixon Announces Departure from 9News Melbourne Weather Role

After two decades on air, Livinia Nixon has announced her decision to step down as the weather presenter for 9News Melbourne. Her final bulletin will be broadcast on Tuesday, November 18.

Decision and Family Focus

“After 20 years presenting weather on 9News, I’ve decided to step back from this role. My sons will both be in high school and I want to be there to support them,” Nixon said.

Having first joined the Nine Network in 1997 and taken on the weather role in 2004, Nixon explained that her choice aligns with her family’s new chapter as her sons begin their senior school years.

Reflections on Career

“It’s been a privilege to be welcomed into viewers’ homes for so long, but this is the right time for my family.”

Nixon expressed gratitude for her long-standing connection with viewers and the community built through nightly broadcasts.

Continuing Work with Nine Network

Although she will no longer present the weather, Nixon will continue her involvement with the Nine Network through her ongoing roles on the travel programs Getaway and Postcards.

“Presenting the weather has shaped my life and career. I owe this role everything but this is the right decision for me,” she noted. “When I discussed it with our boys, they said ‘we’re pretty excited to spend more time with you, Mum.’”
